AmChamps 2018 is Launched!

The fifth generation of the AmChamps program has begun its twelve-month educational journey, during which the students and managers will expand their knowledge and gain new skills necessary for a successful business career.

A ceremony at hotel Metropol started the fifth cycle of the educational program "AmChamps - Young leaders in change" which involves 22 students of Universities in Serbia and an young managers from member companies of the American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia (AmCham). On this occasion, participants were addressed by Vera Nikolic Dimic, executive director of AmCham, Ivona Simic, adviser for human resources in the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Nikolaos Dimiatriadis, regional director of the Office of the University of Sheffield. In addition, AmChamps Alumni presented their work and ideas to the new generation of participants.

"We are very proud that for the last five years we have worked together on fostering synergies of the business and education sectors, as well as efficient integration of young people into the labor market in Serbia. This program is a successful blend of the academic and business world that offers students an opportunity to apply and improve their skills and gain valuable experience and demonstrate their potential. The companies gets a new perspective of their businesss and new ways of solving problems,“ said Vera Nikolić Dimic, executive director of AmCham.

"It is necessary to invest gradually and safely to build the future we want. This program is an excellent example of how to patiently work together and build such a future, said Ivona Simic, adviser for human resources in the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, aiming that "this is a valuable experience of the story, which will focus young people and launch them toward new achievements.”

After the opening remarks, there was a session of speed dating, after which the participants were connected in teams (one student and one manager each) in which the managers will act as mentors. Throughout the program their work together will be monitored and evaluated. The winning team will eventually get a scholarship for Master and MBA studies at the University of Sheffield.
