The Committee is dedicated to the improvement of the regulatory framework supportive to sustainable business development and reduction of environmental footprint.
The Committee is set to raise awareness on key environmental issues in Serbia, tackle regulatory impediments in waste management (especially for packaging waste and special waste streams), as well as promote the sustainable financing of the environment, based on the polluter pays principle. We focus on pressing environment policy issues in aligning domestic regulations with EU acquis and facilitating their smooth implementation and better enforcement.

Supporting the implementation of the EU standards and industry’s transition to circular economy, through an ongoing multistakeholder dialogue.
Improving Packaging and Packaging Waste legislation to meet circularity goals and ensure efficient collection and recycling system, by building consensus on the most important characteristics of the well-designed packaging waste management system (enhancing all dimensions of Extended Producers Responsibility scheme, while introducing the Deposit Retorn System);
Raise awareness and support businesses transition towards carbon neutrality and implementation of ESG standards by promoting favorable legislation and financial incentives; advocate for polluter pays principle, transparent resources distribution and investments into protected natural areas, in parallel curbing discriminatory taxation or parafiscal proposals;
Advocate for legislative changes that would help reduce food waste and improve the overall social and environmental impact, by focusing on reducing food loss due to expiry date and VAT costs of food donation, to reduce landfill dumping and promote sustainable food systems.
