Its initiatives are oriented towards enhancing market access under fair and competitive grounds and harmonization of Serbian legislation with EU acquis through suitable transposition of EU rules and best practices.

Speeding up administrative procedures for medicines and securing sustainable funding, in order to reduce the gap with EU countries.
Enabling the submission of documentation and issuing administrative acts in electronic form for medicines and medical devices, full digital communication with ALIMS and completion of procedures within the legal deadlines.
Reduction of fees for which the appropriate service is not provided (e.g. for vigilance) and elimination of administrative requirements that licensees cannot meet because they do not possess the required data.
More efficient administration of clinical trials, by removing bottlenecks and expanding capacity, leading to an increase in public health sector revenue.
Possibility of opting for the “chosen doctor” in private practice, participation of private health care providers in the immunization process, concluding contracts with RHIF to provide a wider range of services, etc.
Electronic registration, digital communication, telemedicine, establishment of patient register, monitoring of treatment outcomes, etc. Providing modern channels for the sale of medicines and medical devices (Internet pharmacies).
Optimization of public procurement, monitoring of stocks, regular maintenance of medical equipment and application of the criteria of the most economically advantageous offer (MEAT).

Significant majority of AmCham inputs adopted in the Program and Action plan for digitalization of the healthcare system of the Republic of Serbia for the period 2022 – 2023 – meaning that for the first time private healthcare providers will be involved in the exchange of data included in the eHealth, as well as that by the end of 2022, the procedures for obtaining a license for the drug, renewals, variations and advertising will be performed within the legal deadlines.

Recognizing both the existing pressures on the healthcare budget and the obstacles in the business environment facing companies in the healthcare area, AmCham initiated an extensive study aimed at identifying possible ways to improve the efficacy of healthcare services within the existing budget, together with the Ministry of Health.

As a manner of support to the health care sector in Serbia during the pandemic, AmCham provided a Study on possible responses of the health care system to the challenges of the pandemic, encompassing the assessment of the epidemiological situation, the availability of health services to non-Covid patients and immunization. With support of the AmCham member companies, a volunteering project was carried out aiming to help the Medical Task Force and health care institutions in general, providing translation of the recent scientific articles on COVID-19 and presentation of the comparative practices in combatting pandemic.
