AmChamps - Young Leaders in Change

Final event held for AmChamps – Young Leaders in Change 2020

By AmCham  Published On 04/06/2021

The finals of AmChamps – Young Leaders in Change 2020 brought together three mentoring pairs, made up of young managers and students, that made the most progress over the several months of learning through workshops, lectures, and project development. Milan Milošević, student at the Faculty of Economics, and Mirjana Pavlović, who works for Banca Intesa, were the winning team of the programme’s seventh generation.

AmChamps –YoungLeaders in Change is a learning programme aimed at final-year students of universities throughout Serbia and young managers at AmCham member companies. For the seventh year running, AmCham offered participants workshops, lectures, and regular consultations with companies to help 25 selected students and 25 young managers at Serbia’s most successful firms advance their careers. The pandemic made this a challenging year for participants in the 2021 AmChamps annual programme. Nevertheless, all finalists agreed this did not stop them from working with mentors to gain new knowledge and business skills, as demonstrated by the projects they presented in the finals.

The three teams that advanced to the finals were made up of Milan Milošević, student at the Faculty of Economics, and Mirjana Pavlović of Banca Intesa; Sonja Subošić, who studies organisational science, and Danijel Stojanović, employed at OTP Group; and Danilo Bajić, student at the Faculty of Economics, and Jelena Banduka Dugalić, from Philip Morris International. This year the judges were Milana Jević Gledović, VP Legal Affairs&Asset Protection at Delhaize Serbia; Borislav Miljanović, CEO of Represent System, and Svetoslav Atanasov, General Manager of Coca Cola HBC Serbia.

‘The past year has been challenging for the AmChamps programme. Even though the online events did not allow the participants to interact with one another face to face, I believe we have together been able to deliver the programme in full in what have been most unusual circumstances’, said Tina Kostić of AmCham.

The pairs presented their final projects, which were then judged and scored. The judges admitted the final had been highly interesting, in particular since all three projects were different from one another. Milan Milošević, student at the Faculty of Economics, and Mirjana Pavlović of Banca Intesa were declared winners of the seventh generation of the programme.

The winning project presented fintech, an industry that is rapidly transforming how business is done, together with options for its implementation in Serbia. The winners highlighted the findings of research into this area, industry trends, and practices employed by banks and corporations that successfully mix technology and financial services.

AmChamps winners received full scholarships for an Executive MBA course (which will go to the manager) and a master’s course at York University (for the student), whereas the other finalists secured partial scholarships for manager and undergraduate programmes.
