Miro Smolovic, Partner at Study Smart and trainer at PwC Academy delivered a strategy workshop for AmChamps.
The workshop was aimed at helping AmChamps, both mentors and students, apply basic strategy models and learn more about the importance of strategy and strategic objectives. The event opened with a discussion of how to develop strategies and plans, which were seen as the first steps in achieving any objective. Miro highlighted the importance of first having to understand our environment and then follow trends dictated by today’s society. Business success followed from applying methodologies, evaluating, embracing corporate culture, and getting to know clients and their needs.
The second part of the session was devoted to growth crises and ways of overcoming them. According to Miro, the most common such critical points were the leadership crisis, autonomy crisis, control crisis, and red-tape crisis. He explained the VMOST strategy, which helps us understand why, how, and what we do – in other words, what our motives and intentions were and which behaviours guided us.
At the end of the lecture, the AmChamps were given tasks that required applying the newly acquired skills on examples of AmCham member companies and their own firms.
