
AmChamps – Young Leaders in Change is AmCham Serbia’s landmark professional development program, launched in early 2014 as a showcase model on how academia and corporate sector should work together with aim to develop people who will be leading the business community in Serbia.
WHAT AmChamps has to offer?
AmChamps 009 will gather 40 participants – 20 students & 20 young managers from AmCham member companies. Students are III & IV year of undergraduate studies or enrolled in master studies at the state Universities in Serbia and have up to 25 years. AmCham members are young and mid-managers, of between 29 and 37 years.
At a special speed dating event at the beginning of the program, students and young managers are matched up with one another in pairs based on brief speed dating, with the managers acting as mentors to the students. Throughout the program participants work on assignments and projects, either in their pairs or as part of larger teams, developing together their mentoring relationships.
The program is comprised of three parts – learning curve (regular part, for all participants), case study (semi-finals, for top 10 pairs) and project assignment (finals, for top 3 pairs).
Regular part – learning curve (November 2022 – May 2023)
The regular part, or the learning curve consists of a series of lectures, workshops and extracurricular activities during which participants gain new knowledge and professional experience aimed at perfecting business skills, stimulating creative thinking and self-confidence. In parallel, they are working together in pairs, or in smaller groups, developing mentoring and leadership.
Lectures on important business topics and soft skills worksops are delivered by business experts – top managers of the most succssesful companies in Serbia, as well as expirienced trainers. During this period, managers have obligation to provide students, their mentees, with an internship opportunity in their companies, of a minimum one month, to get acquainted with the company at the first hand. On the other hand, managers gets special coaching sessions.
Participants collect points for different activities, and ten pairs who get the highest scores progress into the next phase – semifinals. Upon completion of the regular part of the program, participants receive certificates of successful completion of the AmChamps, if they were present at minimum 70% of the planned activities.
All AmChamps activities within the regular part of the program will be organized two times a month on average, from 10 to 18h, live or online, depending on the epidemiological situation.
Detailed schedule of acitvities, with all topics and list of lecturers will be finalized in September and available for all interested candidates in the selection process.
Semi-finals – case study (June 2023)
The ten pairs are given a case study by Coca-Cola Hellenic to work on over June. They present their results at the semifinals event.
Finals – project assignment (July – October 2023)
The three pairs who perform best in semi-finals move on to the finals, where, mentored by AmCham Board members, they develop special projects provided by the CEOs/GMs of the companies which have delegated managers. Each pair thus works on a real company-specific project. The pair that completes the assignment most successfully is pronounced the AmChamps 009 winner at the special event celebrating the end of the program.
All finalists get special awards – first place full scholarships for Executive MBA (manager) and Master studies (student) at Your University, Europe Campus, City College in Thessaloniki, second and third place half fee waiver.
Also, PWC will award one couple (based on special mini assignment) with PwC Mini MBA for manager and 2 PWC trainings for the student.
Within the regular part of the program, participants will collect points for the following activities: attendance, assignments (within some workshops and lectures), organization of special events and mentoring.
