Coca-Cola System and Bambi Company Generated 633 Million Euros in Additional Value for the Domestic Economy in 2023
The Coca-Cola System and Bambi Company generated an additional 633 million euros for the domestic economy in 2023, representing 0.9% of Serbia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to the results of the Study on the Socio-Economic Impact of the Coca-Cola System and Bambi Company.
The results of this Study, presented at this year’s Kopaonik Business Forum during the panel “Why Global Players Are (Still) Domestic Companies,” show that a total of 343 million euros in taxes and contributions were paid throughout the entire value chain, accounting for 1.3% of Serbia’s total tax revenues. Of this amount, the Coca-Cola System and Bambi Company directly contributed 76 million euros.
The Study confirms that the retail sector traditionally benefits significantly from the business activities of these companies, with 166 million euros in additional value generated through it. A total of 22,600 jobs were supported throughout the entire value chain, representing 0.75% of the total number of employees in Serbia. The Coca-Cola System and Bambi Company directly employ 1,788 people, and each job in these companies supports an additional 11 jobs in the broader value chain.
Saša Marković, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Serbia and Montenegro, emphasized that the company is strategically strengthening its presence in the region through sustainable growth, responsible business practices, and collaboration with local partners. “We rely on the expertise of our employees, as well as the support of customers and suppliers, to create added value. We are continuing to expand into regional markets and contribute to Serbia’s foreign trade balance,” said Marković.
Gorica Stojković, General Manager for Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia at Coca-Cola, highlighted the importance of private-public sector collaboration. “The added value to the national economy has nearly doubled, contributing to GDP growth, employment, and fiscal consolidation. We believe in a balance between economic success and social responsibility,” said Stojković.
Dragan Stajković, General Manager of Bambi, emphasized the role of innovation and exports. “By opening the Research and Development Center, we have laid the foundation for future growth. Exports account for 30% of sales and continue to grow, while responsible business practices are creating positive changes for the community,” said Stajković.
This is the sixth socio-economic impact study by the Coca-Cola System in Serbia and the third involving Bambi, prepared by the consulting company “Steward Redqueen” based on the methodology of Nobel laureate Vasily Leontief.
