A future without tobacco smoke will bring benefits in terms of quality of life, health, and environmental preservation.
During the current year, Philip Morris has introduced its innovative product, IQOS Iluma, to the domestic market, emphasizing its revolutionary nature. Additionally, a significant investment of 100 million euros has been announced for expanding the factory for the production of smoke-free tobacco products, leading to the creation of an additional 200 job positions. These initiatives represent a crucial step towards furthering the development of Philip Morris as a company and enhancing the tobacco industry.
I believe the key issue lies in the well-known health concerns associated with our traditional product. As a company, we have been actively addressing harm reduction and developing better solutions for smokers who might otherwise continue their smoking habits. It is evident that both our company and the community at large will benefit from these efforts, aligning us more closely with societal needs. This is indeed what is expected from every company in today’s landscape. I take pride in the fact that we initiated this work two decades ago.
In our factories today, we are implementing artificial intelligence to optimize production processes. Recently, we transitioned from the standard IQOS device to the new IQOS Iluma. The former heated tobacco through a blade inside the device, necessitating daily cleaning. The new device utilizes induction heating via a small metal strip within the cartridge, eliminating direct contact with the heating element and the need for regular cleaning. We collaborate with startups, technological centers, creating an entire network of innovations that will subsequently benefit the economy as a whole. Therefore, it is evident that investments exist and are already having a positive impact on the economy. – stated Tommaso Di Giovanni, Vice President for International Communications at Philip Morris International.
