At a briefing session dedicated to sustainability, IKEA representatives shared how the company is moving from climate pledges to concrete actions through its Net Zero Transition Plan, which goes beyond standard corporate strategies.
Aldo Lele, Sustainability Manager for South East Europe, and Teodora Kovačević, Sustainability Leader, emphasized that the Plan takes a comprehensive approach — reducing emissions across the entire value chain (Scope 3), relying on science-based targets, and introducing climate assessments to ensure transparency and accountability.
Special focus was placed on the responsible use of offset mechanisms — only after achieving actual emission reductions — as well as on identifying innovation gaps that require new approaches and collaboration. As the speakers highlighted, partnerships with suppliers, consumers, and the local community are essential for scaling solutions and achieving goals.
Participants had the opportunity to learn how global ambitions translate into local practice and to gain practical insights useful for their own path toward Net Zero goals.
