This signifies its utilization of electric energy from Elektroprivreda Srbije derived entirely from renewable sources, as stated by the company.
IDEA, Roda, and Mercator stores throughout Serbia will significantly contribute to environmental protection by reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 33% in 2024 and by as much as 50% in 2025.
Mercator-S’s transition to using electric energy from renewable sources is part of Fortenova Group’s ESG strategy aimed at creating a sustainable future. The company installed smart can recycling presses in 10 selected IDEA and Roda stores in 2021, resulting in the recycling of nearly 50,000 cans to date. In addition to recycling, Mercator-S has initiated a composting project aimed at reducing landfill waste. A pilot project was launched in 16 selected IDEA stores, composting over 35 tons of organic waste within just one year and producing 6 tons of compost
