AmCham’s Combating Grey Economy Committee delivers training on using software to address illicit trade
Over the past three years, the AmCham Combating the Grey Economy Committee has been continuously helping the Market Inspection increase its online investigation capacity to tackle the growing trend of illicit trade on the internet. This year, in addition to working with the Market Inspection, the Committee has assisted the Ministry of Interior and the Tax Police by providing licensed software utilities used in online investigations.
‘We have been helping law enforcement bodies, the Market Inspectorate, Ministry of Interior, and the Tax Police, combat illicit trade online to ensure that copyright holders, legitimate traders, and producers can enjoy a level playing field’, said Dragana Vujko, Chairperson of the Combating Grey Economy Committee.
Officers of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications shared experiences in using software to combat illicit online trade with their peers from the Tax Administration and the Ministry of Interior. Nebojša Dević of the Market Inspection Department reiterated that AmCham Serbia had been providing support with this process continuously since 2018. Licensed Mozenda and Maltego software and consulting support have helped the Market Inspectorate become capable of pursuing online investigations online on a sustainable basis, allowing it to improve its performance by a factor of 50.
The event included an overview of software that can be used for online investigations and a training seminar on using the donated utilities.
