AmCham Elects New Board of Governors Members and Delivers AmCham HERO Award to Dr. Miodrag Stojković

Jelena Pavlović, AmCham President, spoke about AmCham’s mission and vision, as well as the results achieved in 2018. “In the past year, AmCham's Board of Governors has made an effort to advocate and implement AmCham's mission and vision in the best possible way. We support every effort to improve general business conditions by establishing rules that apply equally for all, by strengthening institutions and through the Rule of Law.” Pavlović emphasized that as the most difficult and important job awaiting Serbia in the years to come is building institutions suitable for the market economy, AmCham will continue to be a constructive partner and monitor of the state in accordance with the interests of its member companies.

“None of these successes would be possible without you. Our shared work has made the year behind us such a good one, and I’m sure the best years are yet to come” said AmCham Executive Director Vera Nikolić Dimić, presenting the annual report for 2018. Pointing out the importance of all the activities and educational platforms conducted by AmCham in 2018, she stressed that “members of AmCham remain committed to encouraging the development of institutions and improving the business environment in Serbia.” Finally, she especially thanked the US Embassy and ambassador Scott and his team for their long-term, year-round cooperation, as well as their support for AmCham in its activities.

A jury composed of representatives of the AmCham Board of Governors presented this year’s AmCham Leader in Change HERO Award to Dr. Miodrag Stojković, a renowned geneticist and the only Serbian scientist with an h-index of 60. This year's laureate holds a doctorate in the field of embryology and biotechnology and is a professor of human genetics. He was the first researcher in Europe and the Western world to acquire human embryonic stem cells from so-called cloned embryos.
