Social and ethical responsibility adds value to modern businesses
The latest day of activities on the AmChamps 009 program saw participants learn about the importance of the environment by joining a drive to weed rose beds at Belgrade’s Danube riverside promenade. A presentation then showcased the significance of recycling and using new materials to reduce harmful impacts on the environment, and the final event helped them understand regulatory considerations and made them think about today’s ethical dilemmas faced by companies and their staff.
The rose bed weeding activity was organized together with a crew from the City of Belgrade Department of Parks at the Danube riverside promenade not far from the Milan Gale Muškatirović sports center and supported by Ball Corporation. More than fifty participants together cleared the flowerbeds along the promenade, showing that such activities, although local in character, were nevertheless significant for raising awareness of environmental protection and nature conservancy and the importance of every individual in efforts like these.
These issues were then elaborated more broadly at a presentation on Environmental Protection delivered by Predrag Ozmo, Sustainability Director at Ball Corporation. At this producer of packaging materials, awareness of the importance of recycling helped advance environmental protection and ensure greater sustainability of resource management. The participants discussed the potentials of even more recyclable innovative materials that could help reduce the drain on resources required for their production.
The Compliance presentation was delivered by Ronald Seeliger, President and CEO of Hemofarm, and Jelena Danilović, Compliance Director at the firm and an AmChamps alumna. The participants were able to learn more about the importance of this concept, corporate regulatory alignment with national laws, and increasingly frequent ethical dilemmas that required solving through corporate byelaws to prevent and address conflicts of interest and ensure equitable conduct by companies and their employees.
The next activity is planned for late May, when the participants are scheduled to visit the logistics company Nelt.
