The seminar “From Passive Consumers to Active Buyers in the Electricity Market”, held at the Metropol Palace Hotel, brought together representatives from the business community, institutions, and the energy sector to present new opportunities for companies in line with the amended Energy Law.
Through discussion, participants learned how they can use, store, or sell electricity produced on their premises, as well as how to participate in ancillary services and flexibility markets. Special attention was given to the role of aggregators and practical examples of benefits for end users, featuring insights from KOER, the operator of one of the largest virtual power plants in the region.
The panel discussion was moderated by Petar Mitrović, Vice President of the AmCham Energy Committee and Partner at Karanović & Partners, with contributions from Rade Mrdak of the Ministry of Mining and Energy, and Marko Janković from CWP Europe. Following the panel, Luka Renkov and Mladen Šicel from KOER shared their experience in developing a virtual power plant in Croatia.
The event emphasized that the transformation of consumers into active market participants is not just a regulatory requirement, but also a significant business opportunity for companies aiming to improve their energy efficiency and generate additional revenue streams.
