The lecture was opened by Ivona Simić, HR advisor in the Cabinet of the Prime Minister, who welcomed the participants and invited them to contribute by being interactive. She emphasized that this workshop is highly important because the main topic was HR activities and processes, different perspectives of managing human resources. She said that these are the core of this profession. Ivana da Costa, a HR expert with years of experience with companies such as the Hyatt Regency, Coca-Cola Hellenic and Bel-Medic, reminded the audience that one must be a good psychologist in order to excel at HR, bearing in mind always that behind every paper is a human who needs to be understood. Likewise, she pointed out that the organization and structure of this job mean nothing if they are not completely adjusted to a certain project, company or time we live in. Through a dialogue with participants, she spoke about her experience and gave them advice on how to be more successful in their HR career.
The last part of the lecture was given by Bojana Sajlović, HR Business Partner in NIS, who emphasized that the main task of HR is to advise and provide HR tools to managers, and that later on, it is up to them to use the tools in the right way. She drew attention to the fact that in our country a huge challenge is to find adequate job candidates despite a high unemployment rate. Finally, she spoke about rewarding and the importance of non-materialistic motivation, upon studies results that indicate that working atmosphere and human relations are almost always most important to employees, while salary comes in at fifth place.
