In his introductory address, Jovan Protić, the National Coordinator of the International Labour Organization for the Republic of Serbia, presented the significance of the new German Due Diligence Act in supply chains and the recently adopted EU Directive for domestic companies. He emphasized the necessity to enhance the capacities of domestic companies and employees to align with these new regulations.
Aleksandra Petrović, the National Project Coordinator at the ILO, delivered a lecture on the essential steps employers should take to adapt to the new standards, with a particular focus on implementing grievance mechanisms.
During the presentation of the International Labour Organization’s research on the application of due diligence in supply chains, guests highlighted the benefits that Serbian companies accrue through alignment with international standards, such as preventing social dumping, strengthening the rule of law, reducing lawsuits, and improving internal communication between employers and employees through the introduction of internal grievance mechanisms.
Attendees actively participated in discussions, sharing their experiences and challenges encountered during the implementation of new legal regulations. They posed questions and received concrete advice to enhance their internal processes.
