NIS has won the title of Champion of Excellence for 2021, awarded by the Foundation for Quality Culture and Excellence and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of the Serbian Ministry of Economy. This makes NIS the first company to have been declared the overall winner in these awards twice, now also being recognised as Champion of Excellence.
The award was accepted by Vadim Smirnov, Deputy CEO of NIS and head of the Government Relations and Corporate Communications Function. ‘I’m proud of my co-workers, the management of the company, who have been facing risks for years and addressing issues efficiently. It was they who understood that people were our greatest asset and that we had to strive to safeguard each job. Today, we have one of the best oil refineries in the region, actually not one of the best, but the very best one, a facility that can stand up to comparison with any refinery in Russia, a fact we’re exceptionally proud of. NIS is facing the future with optimism. We’re a large company and we’re aware of our responsibility. Starting next year, we’ll be focusing on the environment and the green transition, an area where we’re also planning to remain leaders’, Smirnov said.
Goran Stojilković, Deputy CEO for Petrochemical Business at CEO, accepted the Leader in Business Excellence award for 2021. ‘This accolade recognises primarily our company’s organisational abilities and the quality of our corporate values, especially at this challenging time we find ourselves in. Moreover, being a leader at a company the size of NIS also means motivating people to perform not only the usual business tasks but overcome personal challenges as well, to find their inherent energy, and to achieve results. To do all this, you’ve got to be quite clear when setting up and integrating quality systems into day-to-day business operations’, he added.
