The final, fourth educational module of the She Knows program
The introductory workshop was led by Malina Stanojević from Save the Village, a women’s association based in Priboj, the largest town of Serbia’s Polimlje region. She showcased the results of years of efforts to improve the position of women in Priboj and its outlying villages. Save the Village now has over 90 members and is active in empowering women, preserving cultural heritage by promoting traditional singing and handicrafts and fostering the production and processing of agricultural produce.
Since its establishment, the association has implemented over 30 projects. Women from villages surrounding Priboj have received training in project writing, business plan development, starting their own businesses, greenhouse vegetable production and processing, use of new technologies, and marketing for product placement. These efforts have yielded visible results, as evidenced by the 37 greenhouses acquired through various projects.
Sonja Konakov Svirčev of Erste Bank held an interactive workshop on mapping implementation plans and assigning responsibilities. The workshop focused on strategic guidelines for applying diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) values. Divided into teams, the participants were tasked with proposing inclusive policy concepts, such as employment policies for people with disabilities, that could be implemented in their companies. The exercise emphasized creating appropriate target employee groups within each company and identifying management representatives to advocate policy changes.
Olja Aleksić of the Sapfo Groove Initiative gave a short lecture on unconventional leadership, explaining how conventional leadership focuses on maintaining the current state, while unconventional leadership aims for constant change and boundary-pushing. Through examples of conflict resolution, Olja presented the approaches that an unconventional leader uses to address problems.
Nataša Nikolić of Ernst & Young introduced participants to the concept of women’s leadership in entrepreneurial development and presented her company’s Entrepreneurial Winning Women initiative, which supports female entrepreneurs in over 60 countries.
Gaia Montelatici, head of the She Knows program, awarded participants certificates for successfully completing the educational program.
