The role of companies in today’s society is no longer measured solely by financial performance. They are now expected to take responsibility for their impact on the environment, society, and decision-making processes. Delta Holding has long embraced sustainability principles in its operations, and recently presented the key highlights from its 16th Sustainability Report.
At an event that brought together partners, supporters, and advocates of sustainable business practices, the company shared its ESG strategy, achievements, and insights into the broader social and regulatory landscape.
Tijana Koprivica, Chief Sustainability Officer at Delta Holding, emphasized the priority areas identified through the materiality assessment process: energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste and water management, human and labor rights, equality, workplace safety and health, and the broader economic impact on local communities.
She noted the company’s clear awareness of its role in mitigating climate change, with a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. In addition to building solar power plants, the use of biomass at several locations has already helped prevent the emission of nearly 40,000 tons of CO₂. To put this into perspective, it would take 1.5 million trees one year to absorb that amount of carbon.
Koprivica also highlighted that rural areas have not been overlooked. Through the “Digital Village” project, a digital platform was developed to give farmers fast and easy access to key business-related information.
EY, Delta Holding’s partner in report development, provided expert support in non-financial reporting. Danijela Mirković, Head of Audit at EY Serbia, emphasized that upcoming changes to EU regulations only reinforce the importance of sustainability reporting. Companies that follow the highest standards will continue to lead in the European market. As Serbia moves toward regulatory alignment with the EU, similar standards are expected to be implemented locally as well.
The presentation of the ESG report concluded with the ceremonial signing of the Partnership for Equality, reaffirming Delta Holding’s commitment to equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion.
On this occasion, Brankica Janković, Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, stated that people need action rather than grand words, and that good human relationships, ethics, and trust are what truly matter. She thanked Delta Holding for their trust and continued dedication to these values.
