At Medtronic, we are guided by Our Mission, set forth in 1960, according to which our first and foremost priority is to contribute to human welfare. We know that every action we take impacts the future of our employees, our business, our communities, and our planet. We put people and planet first, guided by environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities.
At Medtronic, since 2008, we have been publicly reporting our ESG performance and progress using well-known and widely accepted disclosure standards and frameworks.

Among all our actions, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity play a critical role in driving our competitiveness, bringing more creativity, better decision-making, and enhanced innovation.
At Medtronic we integrate Inclusion, Diversity and Equity principles throughout our company to ensure that every operating unit, team, and leader recognizes and celebrates the value of diverse experiences and backgrounds. Developing an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workforce empowers us to reach our highest potential in our business and in our communities.
We have taken several strategic actions to help us move faster toward zero barriers to equity. In 2022, we made progress on our goals to have more women and people from ethnically diverse groups in managerial positions, and we increased hiring rates for women and ethnically diverse talent. In 2022, 43% of manager and higher positions were held by women at the Central and Eastern Europe level.
At Medtronic we are especially proud of creating Diversity Networks and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) which help strengthen a sense of belonging across our company. These groups ensure platform to share everyone their voice and the voice of the community, collaborate across functions and levels, and advance programs and initiatives in the areas of talent, education and community, and partnerships. In 2022, 1 in 3 Medtronic employees were a part of a Diversity Network or ERG.
We focus on building both centralized and local, personal engagement in ID&E. We believe that collective action is what makes the world a better place. Therefore, among our Serbian employees we are engaging in the local Together We Care activity, planting trees and cleaning the surroundings to make the positive impact on the environment. We engage ourselves in collecting plastic cups – as the valuable material it can be recycled and based on that we could gather funds to support people with disabilities.
We also want to make sure that LGBTI+ and allies are visible, represented and championing at all levels, in all regions where we operate. In 2022, Medtronic took part in The International Human Rights Conference organized as a part of EuroPride 2022 in Belgrade. The event served as an excellent opportunity to take part in dialogue with local and international politicians and decision makers on best ways to contribute to strengthening equality and justice for the LGBTI+ community, and was attended by Anna Kasprzak – our Vice President, Central and Eastern Europe, Medtronic, who was a speaker during the plenary Session: LGBTI+ Corporate Social Responsibility: Encouraging more Companies to Step Forward.
