Next-Gen HR – Recognizing Future Leaders

Organized by the AmCham HR Forum and hosted at the premises of Hemofarm, the event titled “Next-Gen HR: Recognizing Future Leaders” brought together HR professionals and young colleagues from the field to discuss the role of new generations in shaping the future of the HR profession. The event provided an opportunity to hear first-hand experiences from Gen Z HR professionals and to open a dialogue on how companies can better identify and develop future leaders.

 

During the discussion, it was emphasized that the labor market context is changing rapidly, along with the expectations of new generations of employees. Participants highlighted that for Gen Z, changing jobs has become a normalized part of career development, while company values and organizational culture are often decisive factors when choosing an employer. In such an environment, companies are increasingly investing in how they communicate their culture – both internally and externally – as this communication plays an important role in attracting and retaining young talent.

 

A special part of the conversation focused on the development of young professionals. Mentorship and various knowledge-sharing models were highlighted as key tools, including peer-to-peer and reverse mentoring programs. These approaches not only contribute to skills development but also encourage more open communication and collaboration within teams.

 

Participants also reflected on the challenges young professionals face at the beginning of their careers—from taking on responsibilities within teams and organizations to learning how to manage their time effectively and set clear professional boundaries. The discussion also touched on changes in recruitment processes and the impact of new technologies, while opening the question of how artificial intelligence may affect the availability of junior positions and the role companies play in integrating young people into the labor market.

 

The conclusion of the discussion was that developing future leaders requires continuous investment in learning, open collaboration between generations, and a company culture that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth.

 

The panel discussion was moderated by Ivan Vučićević, Country Sales Manager at Adecco and Chair of the AmCham HR Forum, and Aleksandra Lazarević, Senior TA & EB Specialist at Hemofarm. Young HR professionals from AmCham member companies also took part in the discussion, sharing their personal experiences and perspectives as representatives of the new generation of Gen Z HR leaders.
